Educational Strategy of Rushd Charity Foundation
Islam has given a lofty status to knowledge. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim man and woman.”
At Rushd Charity Foundation, we believe that education is not only a human necessity, but also an Islamic mission; a mission that will take the future of Afghanistan from the darkness of ignorance to the light of knowledge and dignity. Based on this belief, the educational strategy of Rushd Foundation is built upon a set of programs, each of which is a response to a major pain in society.
Our first step is the establishment and expansion of physical schools at the primary, secondary, and higher levels. These schools are built for children, especially orphans and the underprivileged, who have limited or no access to education. A physical school provides the opportunity for the child to directly connect with the teacher, classmates, and a living social environment. We began this initiative in Logar province, Baraki Barak district, Baraki Rajan area, by establishing Khair-ul-Anam School. This work is a trust fulfilled, because education is the inheritance of the Prophets. From a humanitarian perspective, a physical school is a pathway to breaking the cycle of poverty and creating a literate and capable generation.
However, we know that the circumstances of Afghanistan have deprived thousands of children, both inside and outside the country, from attending physical schools. For this reason, Rushd Foundation has launched a non-physical (online) school program. Students can register through our official website and regularly follow their lessons using the apps designed for this program, such as the Teacher, Student, and Parent apps. This program is for every child who has been trapped by migration, poverty, or other challenges and deprived of education, as well as for children who lack sufficient motivation for studying, and for those whose parents want their education to be provided through modern learning methods. We began this program with the recording of primary lessons. Education is a universal right, not a privilege for a select few.
One of our most special programs is “Salary in Exchange for Education.” This program is for children who are forced into hard labor due to poverty. Rushd Foundation identifies these children and allocates them a monthly salary of three to five thousand Afghanis, on the condition that they study and attend class. In this way, the child is no longer forced to carry a shovel or heavy bags instead of a pen. Alhamdulillah, we have already launched this program, and currently a number of children are included in it and benefiting from education. This program is a clear example of the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: “I and the one who cares for an orphan will be like these two in Paradise.” From a humanitarian perspective, it also preserves the dignity of the student, because this support is given as a wage for studying, not as a simple charity.
Alongside this, Rushd Foundation has taken a new and unprecedented step in Afghanistan: the production of animations and educational content for children. Every lesson from primary to higher levels is produced and published in cartoon form so that learning becomes sweet, attractive, and lasting. This is especially for children who are deprived of education, or who lack motivation for studying. Through this program, the message of knowledge is delivered to the pure hearts of children in a simple and sweet language. Alhamdulillah, so far Rushd Charity Foundation has successfully prepared a number of such animations. Knowledge is the right of all children and must be delivered in a language they can understand.
For young people with outstanding talent but without financial means, a scholarship program has been designed. Rushd Foundation intends in the future to grant scholarships to students at various educational levels, both inside and outside the country. This program is meant to break the boundaries of inequality. From an Islamic perspective, supporting knowledge-seekers is an act of worship whose reward continues in both this world and the Hereafter; and from a humanitarian perspective, scholarships open a doorway for building the scientific leaders of the future.
Rushd Foundation also always supports orphan students, from their very first day of study until the final stage of higher education. We started this support with the “Salary in Exchange for Education” program, and we will continue it until scholarship and university levels. This is a clear manifestation of the responsibility of orphan care, and from a humanitarian standpoint it ensures that no orphan in this land is left alone and without support.
One of our major future programs is the establishment of universities in various fields. These universities will serve not only for higher education, but also for training specialized and committed professionals at both national and international levels. This program responds to Afghanistan’s enormous need for high-quality scientific centers.
For universal access to knowledge, Rushd Foundation plans to create a general encyclopedia. In this encyclopedia, lessons and information from basic to advanced levels in various fields will be collected so that all people can benefit from it freely. This work is the zakat of knowledge.
In addition, Rushd Foundation also strongly believes in the importance of the role of women in society. Therefore, our strategy includes the creation of a scientific and cultural center for improving the lives of Afghan women. In this center, women will be able to raise their educational, cultural, and economic levels, as well as that of their families. This program is designed to remove the deprivation of women from education and growth opportunities. Its Islamic value lies in the saying of the Prophet (peace be upon him): “Whoever has a daughter and educates her well, and teaches her well… she will be a shield for him from the Fire.”
Finally, Rushd Foundation supports the Siddiq Akbar Madrasa. This madrasa is a place for religious sciences, so that alongside modern sciences, it may grow and nurture a balanced generation. From an Islamic perspective, strengthening religious sciences is safeguarding faith and Sharia; and from a humanitarian perspective, combining religion and knowledge ensures that young people will succeed both in this world and in the Hereafter.

Khair-ul-Anam School
Under the umbrella of Rushd Charity Foundation | Logar Province, Baraki Barak District, Baraki Rajan Area
Khair-ul-Anam School was established in 1403 Hijri Solar (2024) at the initiative of Rushd Charity Foundation, for children who need education the most—orphans, the underprivileged, and students who, for various reasons, have been kept away from school. Our mission is clear and noble: free, dignified, and quality education for all deprived children of this region.
At present, the school is operating at the primary level; but this is only the beginning of the journey. Our plan is to expand it to middle and high school, so that students can continue their path of education and training in this very center without interruption. Alhamdulillah, the school is organized in two shifts for both boys and girls; girls study with female teachers, and boys study with male teachers at separate times, to ensure a safe, calm environment in accordance with Islamic values.
Today, the number of registered students has exceeded 300. In addition to primary classes, literacy programs and capacity-building courses have been launched, so that those children and teenagers who have fallen behind in education can return to the bright path of learning. The school’s lights do not go out even in the winter season; during the past two winters, more than 1,500 students benefited from our educational programs in various winter classes and schedules, ensuring that the cold weather does not extinguish the passion for learning.
This school was established in an area where people suffered from the shortage of schools. Rushd Charity Foundation, by renting two old and worn-out buildings and completely renovating and preparing them, created a proper and dignified space for education so that our dear children could study with a sense of honor and safety. Thanks to this step, the light of hope was kindled in the households; families, with enthusiasm and confidence, bring their children to school and feel comforted and delighted with the services of Khair-ul-Anam.
Our vision is clear and firm: upgrading the school to middle and high levels, expanding classes, adding a library and a laboratory, strengthening winter and literacy programs, and nurturing a generation that will build the future of this land with knowledge, morality, and self-confidence. We believe that no Afghan child should be deprived of the blessing of education and a dignified life because of poverty.
