Clean Water Strategy of Rushd Charity Foundation
Introduction:
Clean water is a blessing without which life is impossible. The Holy Qur’an says:
“And We made from water every living thing.”
Despite this, millions of Afghans today are deprived of access to safe and drinkable water. Rushd Charity Foundation believes that just as education is the right of every human being, access to clean water is also a fundamental and undeniable right of every individual.
Objectives:
- Providing safe and drinkable water for deprived families in rural and remote areas.
- Reducing diseases caused by contaminated water, especially among children.
- Establishing sustainable systems (deep wells, water reservoirs, small water supply networks) for needy communities.
- Promoting a culture of efficient water use and raising awareness about the protection of water resources.
Operational Sections:
- Digging shallow and deep wells: In areas where there is no source of safe water, deep and shallow wells will be created. This program is for villages where women and children are forced to walk kilometers to fetch water.
- Establishing reservoirs and small water supply systems: In areas where water exists but access is limited, tanks and small-scale supply networks will be built so that people can have clean water close to their homes.
- Installing water purification systems: In places where water exists but is contaminated, simple and locally usable purification systems will be installed so that families may access safe water.
- Awareness program: Educating people about the importance of clean water, ways of maintenance, and efficient use of water. This ensures that the available resources remain sustainable.
Future Vision:
Rushd Charity Foundation plans, in the future, to expand these projects and establish a national clean water network in rural areas. The ultimate goal is that no family in Afghanistan should be forced to drink contaminated water, nor should their children be deprived of education because of fetching water.
